With her hands she forms life quality

Elisa Pellosch

As a jeweler, she creates unique pieces of jewelry. As an optician, she creates clarity. With her hands, Elisa Pellosch shapes quality of life. Born in Mittersill as a twin, she likes to be guided by her gut feeling and allows things to take their time. She knows that some things simply have to develop. Just as she grew into her parents' company.

From Carinthia to Tyrol, from Africa to the Orient, from northern Germany to the Amazon and the Caribbean, and finally to independence in her hometown. But one thing after the other. After completing her ninth year of school, Elisa didn't really know where her career path would lead her. There were no real interests - but helping her father in the workshop had always been fun for her. So it had to be something craft-related. So her path led her to Ferlach (Carinthia), where she attended a technical school to become a goldsmith - a profession she was familiar with. She then completed her Matura at the glass school in Kramsach in the course of a 2-year postgraduate course. In Hall in Tyrol, she completes her apprenticeship and master's degree training as an optician. After 8 years of studying textbooks and manufacturing various pieces, she needs a break. The travel enthusiast decides to take a time out on a cruise ship. Elisa spends almost 2 years on an AIDA cruise ship. There she gathers her experience as a jeweler. The employees on board came from all over the world. She likes the multi-cultural mix - even today she is in contact with former colleagues from India and Germany. "On the ship, I learned how to work," she smiles, "7 days a week for 6 months - without a day off." She repeated this twice, with a 2-month break in between.

In 2013, she finally returned to her roots, to her homeland. She works in her parents' business and quickly takes over the management of the company. "At least on the paper," she laughs. "I've felt like a real entrepreneur since 2021." With the active support of her parents, she is growing into being an entrepreneur. She is a consultant, designer, salesperson, takes care of purchasing, logistics and advertising. Staying on track, keeping up with the trends - that's also very important. Thinking about what fits the people in the region. Together with her long-time employees Elisabeth and Selina, she enhances the trade and handcraft offer in Mittersill. "To survive as an entrepreneur in a trading town, it is enormously important to be there by yourself. After all, that's exactly what small trading businesses and therefore Mittersill are all about." She herself attaches great importance to shopping at home and therefore supporting the regional economy and local businesses.

Especially in the last 2 years, the shopping behavior has changed. A lot is sold online and by international shopping platforms. " However, in the field of optometry, this trend has not yet taken hold," Elisa happily tells us. "Especially there, professional competence is in demand and very important." She mentions the topic of contact lenses as an example. Many people don't know that this is a medical product. This needs to be adapted, the handling needs to be demonstrated. "Otherwise, you might break more than you can fix," she says. With eyeglass lenses it's not different: the non-professional doesn't see or notice the difference between optician services and online lenses at first glance. But if they are then confronted with special lighting conditions such as day - night - rain - sun - PC lighting, etc., the eye should also be protected in addition to optimum visual performance. The master optician has been working on the subject of eye diseases for a long time. She has also completed several advanced education courses at the University of Jena. For all those who do not know: Jena is THE optician capital in Germany. This is the direction in which she intends to continue.

What does she particularly like about her work? That she can help people with eye problems and therefore give them a better quality of life. What she would like to see: That this continues to be promoted, accepted by the locals and also valued in the future.
