Nature-bound father of the family
What humanity has to do with animals, why homemade products are so in demand and why stress has no place in agriculture – In our search for the yellow egg we follow the ecological footprint of Günter Berger to his farm in the direction of Lämmerbichl.
First the chicken or the egg? That is a good question. But what is certain is that the eggs of the Egarteckhof chickens are the most sought-after far and wide. And so are the chickens. That's probably because they are kept in a manner that respects animal welfare. "Our breed of chicken is by no means exotic or unusual," says the passionate farmer. "We believe it's the good feed and natural habitat that make our chickens so popular. "
Starting the day with the animals and reviewing it in the barn in the evening means a lot to him. "I get my best ideas in the barn," he says with a smile. As a designer, Günter also implements unique projects quite incidentally, which are just as much an enrichment for the region. "Even though farming takes a lot of time, the animals give you so much back. This and the knowledge that you are producing a good product and perhaps also inspiring one or the other to think and act are worth the effort in any case."
