Life plays in a blaze of colours: Sometimes the warm nuances of the first sunbeams accompany us all day long, sometimes our life shimmers in bright rainbow colours and some days the grey coat of drab monotony of everyday life predominates. “Colours dominate our life”, says Kurt Lechner. “In a room it’s the wall that touches us directly and affects us.” This is also reflected in their slogan “live your walls”.
The play with colours and their effect have fascinated the master painter since his youth. His father and grandfather were masters of this trade and “as was customary back then, as the first-born I took over the business,” Kurt explains. That’s now more than 30 years ago: “I was in my early 20s, before that I got around a lot and then everything simply fell into place.“
What many don't know: Today’s “Maler Lechner Haus”, as the building is called by the locals, served as the Mittersill school building from 1833. In 1949, grandfather Fritz Lechner bought it and set up the paint shop. Sometimes customers come in who can still remember their school days in this building. “Oh yes, and these stairs lead up to the classrooms” and similar statements make Monica’s heart sing. “It’s an honour to work in a house with so much history and which was so full of life and to be able to continue this.”
