The central location

Mittersill has been an active commercial centre for many centuries. This is thanks to its central location by one of the most important North-South links in Austria - between Thurn Pass and Felbertauern. Where in the past the trading by pack animals flourished, the Felbertauernstrasse as one of Europe’s most scenic mountain roads now traverses our region. But being a traffic junction, the most important state road in West-East direction also leads through Upper Pinzgau right through Mittersill. So when you come here, you can be sure not just to be here, but also to be in the thick of it!

All roads lead to Rome? No, to Mittersill - Hollersbach - Stuhlfelden! No matter from which cardinal direction – for those who want to make their way to Upper Pinzgau there really is no way around the municipality. And those who see Mittersill only passing through have only themselves to blame. Because to the great delight of the locals, the little town has preserved its original character.
Here, the nature of the national park and the historic attractions of the town go hand in hand. People still greet each other on the streets, children play outside and the train still only leaves once an hour. No matter if by car, train or plane, all means of transport will bring you to Mittersill - Hollersbach - Stuhlfelden.

Thanks to this magnificent geographic location, our region is thus a perfect holiday destination and the ideal starting point for all kinds of activities and outings. For example, 10 different golf courses are within 60 minutes’ reach as are 10 different lakes and swimming pools. Within some 20 minutes you can get to the district capital Zell am See and Kitzsteinhorn’s glacier is also within reach. If you decide on the opposite direction, Europe’s highest waterfalls, Krimml Waterfalls, are only half an hour away. Innsbruck and Salzburg City are less than 1.5 hours away, and from Munich you can get here in about 2 hours.
